Privacy Policy

getstayz is the operating system that paying-guest (PG) and co-living operators in India use to run their properties — beds, rent, complaints, and resident communication. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use getstayz, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Two kinds of people interact with getstayz: the operator who subscribes to run their PG business, and the residents whose details the operator manages inside the system. For resident data, the operator is the data controller — they decide what is collected and why. getstayz acts as a processor, handling that data on the operator's behalf under this policy and our agreement with them.
Information We Collect
We collect the information needed to run a PG business and to keep your account working. This includes:
- Account details for operators and staff — name, phone number, email, role, and the properties you manage.
- Resident details entered by the operator — name, phone number, bed and room assignment, agreement and KYC documents, and move-in and move-out dates.
- Financial records tied to the business — rent cycles, payment claims, receipts, and deposits. Payment screenshots uploaded by residents are stored as submitted.
- Operational content — complaints, photos attached to complaints, and messages exchanged over WhatsApp through the platform.
- Technical data — device and log information, IP address, and usage events, collected automatically to keep the service secure and reliable.
How We Use It
We use the information above only to provide and improve the service. Specifically, we use it to:
- Operate core workflows — bed occupancy, rent collection, receipts, complaints, and resident onboarding.
- Authenticate users and secure accounts through phone-based one-time passwords (OTP).
- Send transactional notifications, such as rent reminders and complaint updates, on the operator's behalf.
- Generate summaries and classifications with AI. These features format text and categorise issues; they never fabricate financial figures — all numbers come from the operator's own records.
- Diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the reliability of the platform.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use resident data to advertise to residents.
Sharing
We share information only where it is necessary to run the service:
- With the operator and their authorised staff, who access resident data to run the property.
- With infrastructure providers that host and support the platform, including Supabase (database and storage) and our WhatsApp messaging infrastructure, acting under contract on our instructions.
- With AI providers that process text for summaries and classification, limited to the content needed for that task.
- Where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of getstayz, operators, or residents.
We do not share personal data with third parties for their own marketing.
Data Storage & Security
Resident and business data is stored in India, on managed PostgreSQL and object storage provided through Supabase. Access is scoped so that each operator can only reach data belonging to their own organisation. We use encryption in transit, signed URLs for file access, and role-based access controls.
We retain data for as long as an operator's account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, tax, and dispute-resolution needs. Operators may request export or deletion of their data as described below.
Your Rights
Depending on your role and applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may object to certain processing.
- Operators can exercise these rights directly for their account and can act on requests from their residents.
- Residents should contact their operator first, since the operator controls their data. getstayz will support the operator in fulfilling a valid request.
We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable time and in line with Indian data-protection law.
Contact
For any privacy question or request, reach us through the contact page on this site. If you are a resident, contact your PG operator first; we will assist them in responding.
